The Name Behind the Practice

Hi!  I'm Cara, a licensed, ASHA-certified, and PROMPT trained Speech-Language Pathologist serving clients across the lifespan.  I have a knack for working with the very young and the elderly, but I also treat those everywhere in between!  I have worked in a variety of specialized settings, including Early Intervention, Skilled Nursing Facilities, private practice, elementary schools, and hospitals!  I have a passion for helping my clients 'find their voice' and expressing their wants and needs, while simultaneously reducing their levels of frustration.  I am very approachable and easy to talk to, and I want to work with parents and caregivers to get to the root of their loved one's speech-language difficulties and help them in whatever way possible!  I hope that you will choose me to help you through this process and to be a team player in your loved one's speech-language journey.  Whether he or she is using gestures more than words to communicate or has suffered from a stroke, I'm your girl!

I am all about finding the most functional means of communication.  Whether that means using American Sign Language to express themselves or working toward identification and expression of their favorite and most functional everyday items, I'm here to help.  I also have a background in treating:

- dysphagia (swallowing disorders)

- aphasia (loss of words)

- dysarthria (low muscle tone; motor speech disorder)

- apraxia (reduced motor planning for speech production; neurological disorder)

- voice disorders (impaired vocal quality)

I have worn many hats and am eager to support in any way I can.

I love solving the puzzle and watching my clients blossom.  I will do whatever it takes to see progress.  To some, that may mean that a child says his first word or that a mother speaks at a more appropriate vocal volume.  To others it may mean that a brother can find the words more easily or that a daughter can tolerate drinking milk without coughing or choking.  I will work with you through it all.  I am timely and efficient in my work, I will always show up, and I want to connect with your family to best meet your needs and your loved one's personalized therapy goals.
